For eighty guests in September, between €43 206 in Umbria and €64 594 on the Toscana, VAT included. Below is where every euro of that goes, how it moves with the month and the guest count, and what it leaves out.
These are not averages collected from blogs. Each is quantity times a stated unit rate with Italian VAT applied per line, and every line shows where its rate came from: a comune tariff, a price a venue publishes, a band advertised on a booking portal, or our own working figure. The spread between the cheapest and dearest region is €21 388 for the same wedding on the same day. Almost all of it is venue hire.
The contract is in euro. Dollars and pounds are the European Central Bank reference rate of 2026-08-07 plus 1.5%, because the mid rate is not one a retail customer can get. What you actually pay depends on your bank on the day, and every supplier invoices you in euro. The rule, in full.

Per-head cost falls as the wedding grows because venue hire, music and photography are fixed. The final column is the honest number for a couple deciding whether to invite one more cousin.

Only venue hire moves with the season. Catering, bar, music and photography are the same rate in April as in August, which is why a shoulder-season wedding saves less than most couples expect.

For eighty guests in September, a full wedding in Italy runs from €43 206 in Umbria to €64 594 on the Toscana, VAT included. That covers venue hire, catering, bar, service staff, music, photography, flowers, hair and makeup, the celebrant, coach transfers and planning. It excludes flights, accommodation and legal paperwork.
Ten more guests at an eighty-guest wedding in Marche cost about €264 each, gross. A single extra guest can cost far more than that if they open a new table, which happens every tenth guest, or a new coach, which happens every fiftieth. That is catering at €148 net, bar at €41, service staff at €22, plus VAT and a share of coach seats. Fixed costs such as venue hire, music and photography do not move with the guest count, so the average cost per head falls as the wedding grows.
April, at 20 per cent below the June baseline on venue hire. August is the most expensive at 25 per cent above it. Only venue hire moves with the season; supplier rates do not.
Often not, which is where a quote grows after you accept it. Italian VAT is 22 per cent on most services and 10 per cent on food and drink. Every figure on this site is gross, with the rate shown per line.
Between 25 and 50 per cent of venue hire at booking, and it is usually non-refundable. That is the market norm rather than one venue being difficult. You pay it to the venue directly, against the venue's own invoice.
Flights, accommodation, legal paperwork and certified translations, attire and rings, the rehearsal dinner and the day-after lunch, and bank charges on transfers from outside the euro area. Those are excluded here in writing rather than discovered later.
