The part nobody publishes

Seven things an Italian venue contract does not say on the first page.

None of this is sharp practice. Every item below is standard across the country and entirely legitimate. It is simply discovered late, usually after a deposit that does not come back. We would rather you read it now and price it in.

01

The olive grove is not included

Side gardens, orchards and the indoor room you would move into if it rained are frequently charged as separate areas. The quote you were sent covers one of them.

What we doEvery quote here is for exclusive use of the whole property, and the venue line says so.

02

The music stops earlier than you think

Outdoor curfews run from 23:00 to 01:00 by municipal ordinance. Going past it is a surcharge where it is permitted at all, and in some comuni it simply is not.

What we doThe curfew is published on every venue we can price, before you choose. It is the second fact on every card.

03

No indoor backup means a marquee

And a marquee is commonly a 40% non-refundable deposit of its own, committed months before anyone can forecast the weather.

What we doWe only list venues with a real wet-weather plan, and the plan is described on the venue page.

04

The day before and the day after are billable

Setting up and striking are separate hire days at most estates. Some enforce a minimum stay of several nights in peak season.

What we doSetup and strike are inside the venue hire line. If a property enforces a minimum stay, it is on the card.

05

You may have to buy their wine

A minimum purchase of the estate's own wine or oil is routine. Bringing your own supplier can carry a fee, or be refused outright.

What we doBeverage is quoted per guest at a rate that already reflects each property's own supply terms.

06

The garden has no power and no plumbing

Generators and portable facilities are the two most commonly forgotten lines in a countryside quote, and neither is small.

What we doBoth sit inside service staff, hire and linen. There is no separate infrastructure invoice.

07

Everyone has to get there

The venues worth having are remote. Coach transfers are not a nicety, and forty people arriving separately is not a plan.

What we doCoaches are a line on every quote, counted from your guest number, hotel to venue and back.

All seven are inside the number the composer builds, or listed in what it excludes. There is no eighth page.
